About the Author

The poetry of John Yurechko seeks to transport every reader to personal insights from the simplest to the most profound understandings of the human experience.

He provided direct support to top policymakers and leaders of the United States, and worked with senior foreign officials across the globe. He held various agency and department leadership positions at the national level.

His work was recognized with several national service commendations. John Yurechko received a BA in History from Wesleyan University in 1970, and an MA and PhD in History from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1980.

Prior to his government work, he held teaching positions with the University of California, Berkeley, and Georgetown University. He was a founding member of the Berkeley Poets Commune, and one of the editors of its publication, Gallery Works. He is a published author and a public speaker with numerous radio and television appearances. His previous book of poetry is titled Head Lines. He is married and has three wonderful daughters, and one grandson.
